This week’s question from Sadje is:

Do you follow your own blog? Or do you check it out in the Jetpack app later on?

Well, until this week, the answer was no!

I’ve never really seen the point of following my own blog. After all, I already know what I’ve written. At least, I hope I do!

I normally use the Jetpack app to check my blog, read comments, see who’s been visiting and keep an eye on everything happening in my little corner of the blogging world.

But this week, Jetpack has apparently decided to have a personality crisis!

I’ve been experiencing all sorts of strange behaviour. Subscription pop-ups appearing everywhere, blogs I’ve already followed suddenly asking me to subscribe again, and generally enough confusion to make me wonder whether Jetpack has been drinking something stronger than my morning coffee.

And somewhere in the middle of this technological circus, I accidentally pressed the Subscribe button on my own blog!

I accidentally subscribed to myself!

Perhaps Jetpack thought I needed another follower.

Or maybe it decided that, after all the hours I spend writing, I should at least show myself some support.

I suppose there’s a certain logic to that!

The funniest part?

Jetpack already sends me notifications in the app telling me I’ve published a new post.

Jetpack: “Congratulations, Maggie! You’ve published a new post!” 🎉

Me: “I KNOW! I WAS THERE!” 🤣

Thankfully, I’ve switched off email notifications for new posts, so at least my inbox is spared the excitement.

Can you imagine receiving emails about every single post I publish?

I’d probably end up reporting myself as spam!
