What’s the weirdest movie you’ve ever watched?

Weird?

Now, that’s an interesting question.

What exactly do we mean by weird?

Something mysterious? Surreal? Completely bizarre?

A movie that makes you question reality?

Because I’ve watched plenty of fantasy, science fiction and supernatural films over the years.

And I actually enjoy stories that challenge my imagination.

Give me magic, strange creatures, parallel worlds, mysteries and unexpected twists.

I’m perfectly happy with all of that.

But there’s one film I remember for an entirely different reason.

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999).

Oh, dear Lord.

I actually went to the cinema to watch it.

Yes, I willingly bought a ticket.

Nobody forced me.

Nobody threatened me.

I walked into that cinema of my own free will.

BIG MISTAKE!

You see, I’d watched the trailer.

And the trailer was funny!

There were some amusing scenes, and I thought it looked like a comedy worth watching.

So there I was, sitting comfortably in my cinema seat, waiting to have a good laugh.

And waiting…

And waiting…

And waiting some more.

Apparently, someone had decided to put all the funny moments into the trailer.

Because the actual film?

Well…

Let’s just say my sense of humour and Austin Powers weren’t exactly compatible.

I kept giving it another chance.

Surely the next scene will be funny?

Nope.

Maybe I’m missing something?

Possibly.

Perhaps it’ll get better?

Apparently not.

Eventually, I reached the point where I realised something.

I’d rather be doing absolutely anything else than sitting there watching this film.

So I did something I’d never normally do.

I got up.

And walked out of the cinema.

Before the film had even finished!

Now, before the Austin Powers fan club comes after me with pitchforks…

I know the films have plenty of fans.

And that’s absolutely fine!

Humour is a funny thing.

What makes one person laugh until tears roll down their cheeks can leave another person staring blankly at the screen.

We all have different tastes.

I enjoy a good comedy.

I love laughing.

And anyone who has followed my blog for a while knows that my sense of humour can be rather ridiculous.

After all, I’m the woman who accidentally invented Arena 51, turned a typo into an alien conspiracy and then wrote two songs about it.

👽🛸🤣

So I’m certainly not opposed to absurdity!

But apparently there’s absurdity…

And then there’s Austin Powers.

And perhaps that’s what makes this particular cinema experience so memorable.

I’ve watched films that made me cry.

Films that made me think.

Films that frightened me.

Films that stayed in my heart for years.

And films that transported me into completely different worlds.

But this one?

It transported me straight out of the cinema!
