Breeze
Breeze.
What a lovely innocent little word.
A gentle breeze.
A summer breeze.
A cool breeze coming through the window.
Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?
And after the heat we’ve had lately, I would probably stand outside with my arms stretched out and personally thank every little bit of moving air that passed me. 😂
There is something wonderful about that first breeze after a day when the air has felt completely still.
You feel it before you really notice it.
A curtain moves.
The leaves begin to rustle.
The air suddenly feels easier to breathe.
And you think,
Ahhhhh.
Of course, this is Fuerteventura.
We don’t always understand the meaning of gentle. 🤣
A breeze can introduce itself politely and five minutes later you’re chasing something across the garden while a chair is considering emigrating to Lanzarote.
But I love the wind here.
Well…
Most of the time.
There’s something about standing outside and feeling the air move around you that clears my head.
Maybe that’s why we use the word breeze for things that feel easy.
“That was a breeze.”
No struggle.
No resistance.
Just moving through.
Life certainly isn’t always a breeze.
Sometimes we’re walking straight into the wind wondering why everyone else seems to be moving faster.
Sometimes we’re barely moving at all.
And then there are those beautiful moments when everything seems to flow.
The right words come.
The music works.
You laugh without thinking about it.
You sit outside with a coffee and, for five minutes, there is absolutely nowhere else you need to be.
Maybe those are life’s little breezes.
They don’t solve everything.
They don’t stay forever.
They simply pass through and give us a moment to breathe.
And right now?
After weeks of heat and dusty calima?
I’ll happily take the literal version too.
Just preferably not strong enough to send my coffee mug to Lanzarote.
There are limits. 😂
