The Night the Owl Answered
What Do You See? #359 — 21 September 2026
I’ve always loved owls. There is something mysterious and magical about them, those silent watchers of the night.
But one particular encounter taught me that sometimes, when you call upon the mysteries of the universe, they might actually answer.
And you might not be prepared for the response!
Years ago, we had owls living around our property. My ex was rather good at imitating their calls, and one evening he decided to have a little conversation with one of our feathered neighbours.
He called.
The owl answered.
He called again.
The owl answered again.
We were quite impressed with this little exchange.
Until suddenly, the owl decided that a long-distance relationship wasn’t enough.
It came flying straight towards us!
Whatever romantic intentions or territorial disagreements had been communicated during their conversation, we certainly weren’t sticking around to find out.
We ran like hell towards the house, scrambled inside, and kicked the door shut behind us!
There we stood, safe indoors, wondering what on earth had just happened.
Had he accidentally called for a mate?
Had he challenged the local owl to a duel?
Or had the owl simply decided to investigate the strange creature making such convincing owl noises?
We never found out.
But I suspect somewhere in the darkness, a very confused owl was sitting in a tree, wondering why its new acquaintance had suddenly disappeared behind a door.
And perhaps thinking…
Well, that was a rather short date.
🦉😂💜
Moral of the story: Be careful who you call after dark. They might just come looking for you! 🤣
