Sunday Whirl – Wordle #770
16.08.2026
The siren broke through the night, and I woke startled, my heart pounding before I even understood why.
For a moment, I simply listened.
Beyond the window came something that sounded almost like chanting, carried softly on the wind. I tried to convince myself it was only the strange way sounds travel after dark, but my pulse wasn’t convinced.
I slipped out of bed.
The house answered with sleepy sighs—wood settling, curtains moving, shadows stretching into unfamiliar shapes.
“Hello?” I whispered.
Apparently, I expected answers.
I received none.
On the chair beside the door sat a small basket I didn’t remember putting there. Inside was an old silver badge, tarnished with age.
That was when every sensible instinct told me to stay exactly where I was.
Naturally, curiosity won.
I reached for the badge.
The chanting stopped.
So did the siren.
And somewhere in the sudden silence, a voice whispered:
“Now we can start.”
I put the badge back in the basket.
Some mysteries can wait until morning.
Preferably after coffee. ☕
