When Evidence Fails to Function

A CCTV system has one function: to record what happened.

Yet almost two years later, we are still left questioning grainy images, disputed timestamps, and reports that cameras were not functioning around a crucial period.

We have seen photographs said to show Liam at different times and places, while inconsistencies in his appearance—including recent images where he appears to have a beard in one and not another—raise even more questions.

Some circulating images have also faced accusations of editing, manipulation, or AI generation, making it increasingly difficult for the public to know what is authentic.

When evidence creates more questions than answers, its function should be to lead investigators back to the original files, metadata, CCTV recordings, and verified timeline.

Because when a young man has died, the truth should never depend upon which photograph we are expected to believe.
