If I Asked Why
Once, I believed every question
needed an answer.
I thought there were three things
I needed to understand:
what happened,
what changed,
and why.
I carried those thoughts everywhere,
turning them over and over,
as though somewhere among them
I would discover the missing piece.
Sometimes I was angry.
Sometimes I wondered if
I had misunderstood everything.
Sometimes none of it made sense.
But the heart grows tired
of fighting battles without endings.
Eventually, I stopped searching
for the final answer
and began searching for peace instead.
I created a little haven inside myself,
a place where questions could exist
without demanding explanations.
And there I discovered something:
Not every story gives us closure.
Not every goodbye tells us why.
But love does not become meaningless
simply because we cannot understand
how the story ended.
So tonight,
I will leave the unanswered questions
beneath the stars.
And perhaps when I dream,
I will remember that sometimes
peace is not finding the answer—
it is finally allowing yourself
to stop asking.
