If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be?
That’s actually an easy one.
I’d choose Silje from The Legend of the Ice People by Margit Sandemo.
I’ve loved the series since 1989, and Silje has always been one of the characters I admire most.
She is kind, courageous, compassionate, and quietly strong. Even when life gave her impossible challenges, she never lost her humanity or her ability to care for others.
I think dinner with Silje would be filled with wonderful stories, laughter, wisdom, and perhaps a few tears.
I’d love to ask her what it was really like to build a family through so much hardship, where she found the strength to keep going, and whether she ever imagined the legacy she would leave behind.
And, if I were lucky…
Maybe she’d even tell me a few stories that never made it into the books.
The best fictional characters stay with us long after we’ve turned the final page. They become old friends we wish we could meet just once.
