This week let’s write a poem with the words common, rise and Wordsworth in it. This is another of those prompts where I randomly choose three words from a list of the top 1000 words in the English language plus a few of my favorites.

Monday Poetry Prompt: Common, Rise, Wordsworth

The Common Miracle
Wordsworth knew that miracles did not always wear crowns. Sometimes they rise with the morning mist, hidden in birdsong, wildflowers, and dew resting on blades of grass. The world calls them common— as if beauty could ever become ordinary. A sunrise has never repeated itself. No leaf has copied another. Even the wind writes a different poem each day. Perhaps that is what Wordsworth was trying to tell us: the extraordinary does not wait at the end of the journey. It rises with every breath, waiting for someone to notice.
