Prompt: challenge for this week
In the corner of my mind, something kept trying to bloom.
Missy’s MAD Challenge # 102
Wildflowers of the Mind

There was a corner of my mind I rarely visited.
It was hidden beneath old fears, unfinished dreams, and the quiet belief that some parts of me had simply stopped growing.
Yet something lived there.
I could feel it.
Not loudly.
Not urgently.
Just patiently.
Like a seed waiting beneath winter soil, it pushed gently against the darkness.
Whenever I wrote a poem, painted a picture, listened to music, or stood beneath a sky full of stars, I felt it stretching toward the light.
I tried to ignore it.
Life was busy.
There were responsibilities to carry, storms to survive, people to care for.
But every time I thought it had gone silent, another tiny green shoot appeared.
A new idea.
A forgotten melody.
A story asking to be written.
It never demanded attention.
It simply kept blooming.
Then one morning I understood.
It wasn’t hope trying to survive.
It was the truest part of me refusing to disappear.
Some flowers bloom in gardens.
Mine chose the quietest corner of my mind—
and waited for me to notice
that it had been growing there
all along.
