Wearing Time
No one remembered when the clock first appeared.
At first, it hung quietly on the wall, faithfully counting minutes that no one questioned.
Then one morning…
it was walking.
Wrapped in a dark cloak, barefoot across the cold floor, Time had stepped down from the wall to see what had become of the people who chased it.
It watched them rushing from sunrise to sunset, apologizing for being late, wishing weekends were longer, longing for yesterday or fearing tomorrow.
No one noticed the clock walking among them.
They were too busy checking the time.
Time sighed.
“I gave you mornings to breathe.
Afternoons to create.
Evenings to rest.
Yet you keep asking me for more while forgetting to live the moments I’ve already given you.”
The room fell silent.
For just an instant, the hands stopped moving.
No ticking.
No deadlines.
Only the sound of a single heartbeat.
Then Time smiled beneath its hidden cloak, returned to the wall, and began ticking once more.
Nothing had changed.
Except the one person who had finally looked up.
From that day on, they stopped asking, “What time is it?”
Instead, they asked,
“What will I do with the time I’ve been given?”
