July Visual Poetry Prompt

Lemonade Days

A crooked little stand,

built with eager hands

and dreams

far bigger

than a pocketful of coins.

A jug of lemonade,

sweetened with sunshine,

poured into paper cups

for strangers

who become neighbours

with a single smile.

No business plan.

No grand ambition.

Only laughter,

sticky fingers,

and the belief

that a summer afternoon

could last forever.

I wonder

when we stopped

building lemonade stands

and started

building walls.

Perhaps

the child

who painted this sign

still knows

what so many adults forget—

that happiness

is often homemade.

With love, coffee, poetry, and stardust,
