A 90s Throwback
What Is Love by Haddaway
Released in 1993, What Is Love became one of the defining dance tracks of the decade. Written by Dee Dee Halligan (Tony Hendrik) and Junior Torello (Karin Hartmann-Eisenblätter), the song climbed charts worldwide and became a club anthem that still gets people singing decades later.
“What is love?Baby, don’t hurt me…”
Let’s be honest — once that chorus enters your head, it refuses to leave 😄
But for me, this song holds something even more special.
It was the first CD I ever bought.
And with it came another milestone: my very first CD player.
Back then, buying a CD felt like an event. You didn’t just stream music in seconds. You saved money, chose carefully, held the case in your hands, read the booklet, and listened from beginning to end.
This song takes me right back to that feeling — excitement, independence, and the beginning of discovering music in a whole new way.
The 90s had something magical about them musically. Dance tracks like What Is Love could make you think, sing, laugh, and dance — all at once.
And sometimes, a song isn’t just a song.
Sometimes, it’s the soundtrack to becoming who you were.
With love
