Impress
I have never really been the type to try and impress people.
If you don’t like me in fluffy socks, coffee in hand, hair doing whatever rebellion it has decided on that morning—well, this friendship may struggle 😂
When I was younger, maybe.
We all try to impress someone at some point.
Teachers. Parents. Partners.
The strange thing is, the older I get, the less interested I am in polished perfection.
Life impresses me more now.
The quiet things.
Kindness from strangers.
People who keep going when life has knocked them sideways.
Someone sitting in a hospital chair all night because someone they love needs them.
That impresses me.
Not money.
Not followers.
Not people shouting the loudest in the room.
I’m impressed by resilience.
By people who survive storms and somehow still remember how to laugh.
Maybe because life has a funny way of sanding the glitter off things.
You stop chasing appearances.
You notice substance.
And honestly?
If my dark humour can make someone laugh while the world is falling apart, I consider that impressive enough 😂
