The cat looked at me as if I existed only to fetch things.
Food.
Treats.
Attention.
The specific cushion he ignored yesterday
but suddenly needed today.
Naturally,
I made a fuss.
“I am not your servant,”
I announced,
while immediately standing up to check his bowl.
He blinked once.
Victory.
Apparently,
the first rule of living with cats is simple:
They don’t have owners.
They have staff.
