QUENCH
QUOTA
QUAY

Not every thirst
can be measured.
There are parts of us
that don’t follow
quota—
don’t fit into numbers,
or expectations
of how much is enough.
Some longings
are quieter than that.
They wait.
Like water
resting beside a quay,
holding stillness
and motion
at the same time.
I used to think
I had to fill
everything—
meet every need,
answer every call,
be more,
do more.
But not everything
asks to be completed.
Some things
just ask
to be felt.
To be acknowledged
without rushing
to quench them.
Because not every thirst
is meant
to disappear.
Some are there
to guide you—
to show you
where something deeper
is calling.
So today,
I don’t measure.
I don’t force.
I sit at the edge
of what I feel—
and let it be
exactly what it is.
A quiet pull.
A gentle knowing.
And somewhere in that stillness,
I realize—
I am not lacking.
I am listening.
