CCC#083
In response to Crispina Kemp’s prompt: https://wp.me/p2SxtL-aP2

At the Edge
The boat doesn’t hesitate—
it meets the shore
like it has done this a thousand times before.
Waves argue,
pulling,
pushing,
never quite agreeing
where land ends
and sea begins.
I watch that moment—the almost-arrival,
the not-quite-leaving.
How many times in life
do we stand right
there—between holding on
and letting go?
Engines quiet.
Water still restless.
Nothing fully stops.
Maybe that’s the
truth—
we don’t arrive cleanly.
We drift in,
carrying motion with us, even when we step onto solid ground.
And part of us
always stays behind,
rocking gently
with the tide
we thought we left.
