Write about a time when you didn’t take action but wish you had. What would you do differently?

There was a time I stayed silent longer than I should have.
I didn’t stand up for myself when it came to my mother’s alcoholism.
Not because I didn’t feel it—but because I had lived inside it for so long that it felt… normal.
Something to endure. Something to survive.
But silence has a cost.
It slowly takes pieces of you—your voice, your boundaries, your sense of what is okay.
Looking back,I wish I had spoken sooner.
I wish I had seen earlier that I didn’t have to accept what was hurting me.
That I had a choice.
But maybe…I needed that time to understand it fully.
Because when I finally did act—
I didn’t just speak.I changed everything.
I broke the cycle.
I chose something different for myself and for my children.
So what would I do differently?
I would trust myself sooner. Listen to that inner voice that knew it wasn’t right.
But I also know this—
even if it took time…I still found my way out.
And sometimes, that is the most important part of all.
