Tied in Time
At the party,
we tried to share
what could not be wrapped—
the warmth of being seen,
the comfort of feeling safe,
the kind of love that says you are enough.
The clock kept moving, of course,
its hand reminding us that even the sweetest moments can turn cold if left too long in the wrong silence.
On the table,
there were
fried things,
golden and crisp,
cups warming our fingers,
laughter breaking the hard edges of an ordinary day.
Outside, the branches stood brown and bare,
but inside everything felt warm—
as if time itself had tied a ribbon around the evening and let us keep it for a while.
