In response to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge: https://wp.me/pfZzxd-ujr

An actress plays a role.
Steps into a story that is not her own—and makes it feel real.
She speaks words written by another. Feels emotions on cue. Becomes someone for a moment in time.
And we believe her.
Because she is convincing. Because she embodies what is asked of her.
But perhaps…this is not limited to the stage.
Because how often do we do the same?
Playing roles we have learned. Becoming what is expected. Saying the right things,at the right time—even when they are not fully ours.
Daughter.
Mother.
Friend.
Partner.
Strong one.
Quiet one.
The one who holds it all together.
Roles we step into so naturally we forget they are roles at all.
And somewhere beneath them…is something else.
Not a performance.
Not a script.
Just…
you.
Unrehearsed.
Unfiltered.
Unwritten.
To be an actress is a gift.
To feel deeply.
To express.
To transform.
But to live only in roles—is to forget your own voice.
So maybe the invitation is this?
To notice where you are performing…and where you are simply being.
To step out of the script when it no longer fits.
To let the mask fall when it becomes too heavy.
Because the most powerful role you will ever play—
is the one that is not a role at all.
