in response to Ragtag Daily Prompt: https://wp.me/p9YcOU-6jI

To be treed
is to be held.

Not trapped—
but lifted.

Placed somewhere between earth and sky,
where the ground feels distant and the view is suddenly wider.

A tree does not rush.

It grows slowly,
patiently,
rooted deep
before reaching up.

To be treed is to pause—
to find stillness in height.

To see from another angle.
To breathe in a space you didn’t expect to be.

And maybe there is wisdom in that.

In being stopped.
In being held
in place just long enough to notice
what surrounds you.

Because trees
do not resist
where they stand.

They adapt.
They endure.
They grow anyway.

And perhaps we are not stuck—

only
being given
a moment to root deeper
before we rise again 🌳

This is beautifully reflective, Maggie. I really love how you’ve taken “treed” and gently transformed it from something restrictive into something quietly expansive. The shift from being “stuck” to being “held” feels so thoughtful and calming, and the idea that stillness can actually be a form of elevation really stays with you. There’s a soft wisdom in the way you describe growth as patient, rooted, and unfolding in its own time. Truly a lovely piece.
