Glum
Glum…
is a quiet feeling.
Not loud like anger.
Not sharp like fear.
It settles in softly—
like a grey sky
that never quite turns to rain.
There is a heaviness to it.
A stillness.
The kind where everything continues
as it should—
the world moves,
people speak,
time passes—
but something within you
does not quite follow.
Glum is not despair.
It is the space before it—
or perhaps
the space after.
A place where emotions
have grown tired
of being loud.
Where even sadness
no longer needs to explain itself.
And in that quiet…
there is a strange honesty.
Because when everything slows,
when the noise fades,
you begin to notice
what is really there.
The thoughts
you pushed aside.
The feelings
you didn’t name.
Glum
does not demand attention.
It simply stays.
Waiting.
Not to overwhelm—
but to be acknowledged.
And maybe…
that is its purpose.
Not to pull you down,
but to invite you inward.
To sit with yourself
without distraction.
To feel
without needing to fix.
Because not every moment
is meant to be bright.
Not every day
needs to shine.
Some are meant
to be quiet.
To be still.
To be… glum.
And even there—
you are still whole.
