Private Drive

“Please keep clear,” the sign insists,
as if secrets grow better
behind quiet boundaries.

The road curves inward—
not inviting,
not refusing—
just… choosing who belongs.

Moss gathers at the edges,
softening the firmness of stone.
Even walls learn
to breathe over time.

I stand at the threshold,
not unwelcome,
just aware—
some places are not meant
to be entered,
only witnessed.

There is a kind of respect
in not crossing every line,
in understanding
that privacy is not rejection,
but protection.

So I turn away gently,
carrying the lesson with me—
not every path
is mine to walk,
and that, too,
is a form of grace.

I do like this. Especially since the private drive leads to an old rectory. It’s as if you’re saying not every religion offers the right path for us, to turn away and look elsewhere

Thank you. Or turn inwards and find your own truth.
