What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

Negative feelings are something all of us experience at times. Stress, anxiety, sadness, or overwhelming thoughts can suddenly appear, and learning how to handle those moments is important.
Over the years I have learned a few things that help me when my emotions start to feel too heavy.
One of the biggest supports for me is music. Music has a way of shifting energy. Sometimes it calms the mind, sometimes it helps release emotions that have been building inside.
Another thing that helps me is guided meditation. Listening to a calm voice guiding breathing or visualizations can help the mind slow down and reconnect with the body.
Breathing itself is powerful. When anxiety begins to rise, focusing on slow, steady breaths can help bring the nervous system back into balance.
If I feel a panic or anxiety attack coming, I also use a grounding technique. I look around me and start naming things I can see — objects, colors, shapes, anything around me. It helps pull my mind back into the present moment instead of getting lost in the storm of thoughts.
These small strategies may sound simple, but they can make a big difference.
Sometimes coping isn’t about eliminating negative feelings completely.
Sometimes it’s simply about finding your way back to calm, one breath at a time.
