In response to:

The chains are quiet now,
though something inside is still rattling.

A small hunch follows me
through the aisles of ordinary days—
life wrapped in neat packages,
ready to scan,
ready to fit.

But the heart does not barcode so easily.

It crunches old echoes,
tries not to lose what once mattered.

Still—
in the wide human colony,
we keep grasping
for the fragile thing called life,
hoping it will finally
sit still in our hands.
