PROMPT #420

In the fifteen years I have lived on the islands,
I have never seen it like this.
The storm came hard.
Wind, rain, restless skies.
For a moment it felt destructive.
But later, something extraordinary happened.
The volcanic earth — usually brown and quiet —
turned green.
Tiny shoots pushed through stone,
wildflowers appeared where only dust had lived before.
And suddenly I understood something about resilience.
Life does not ask permission from the landscape.
It waits.
It remembers the rain.
Then it rises.
