Some songs don’t need a long introduction.
Just a few seconds… and you know exactly what it is.

This week’s theme is to write about the intro of a song, and my choice is Wonderwall by Oasis.

Released in 1995 on the album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, the song was written by Noel Gallagher and became one of the most iconic songs of the 1990s.

And it all begins with that simple, unmistakable acoustic guitar intro.

Those opening chords are gentle but powerful. They don’t rush. They set a mood — reflective, a little melancholic, but also hopeful.

One of the most memorable lines from the song says:

“Because maybe
You’re gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You’re my wonderwall.”

Within seconds of hearing the intro, the listener is drawn in. Even people who don’t know the title of the song will recognize those opening notes.

It’s one of those musical openings that instantly transports you somewhere.

Maybe back to the 90s.
Maybe to a memory.
Maybe to someone who once felt like your “wonderwall.”

The word itself became famous because of the song. In the lyrics, it suggests a person who somehow saves you from yourself — someone who helps carry you through life’s struggles.

For me, it’s the simplicity of the intro that makes it timeless. Just a guitar, a melody, and the feeling that something meaningful is about to unfold.

Sometimes the quiet beginning of a song is what stays with us the longest.
