Distance
Such a simple word, yet it carries so many meanings.
Distance between places, measured in kilometers or hours on a map.
Distance between people, measured in silence, in things unsaid, in the space where conversations used to live.
Sometimes distance protects.
Sometimes it heals.
Other times it grows quietly without anyone noticing, like a tide slowly pulling away from the shore.
I’ve learned that distance is not always the enemy.
Sometimes it gives perspective.
Sometimes it gives breathing room.
The world feels smaller than ever — messages travel instantly, voices cross oceans in seconds — yet real closeness still depends on something deeper than proximity.
You can sit beside someone and still feel miles apart.
You can be thousands of kilometers away and feel someone’s presence in every thought.
Distance, maybe, is not just space.
Maybe it’s understanding.
Or the lack of it.
And sometimes the bravest thing we can do is accept the distance…
and keep walking anyway.
