Today’s Word: Glossary

A glossary is a list of meanings.

Definitions gathered at the back —
explaining terms
so nothing is misunderstood.

It brings clarity.
Structure.
Shared understanding.

But life doesn’t come with a glossary.

We use words like love,
loyalty,
family,
forgiveness —
assuming we all mean the same thing.

Often, we don’t.

If life had a glossary,
perhaps it would explain
why one person’s boundary
is another person’s rejection.
Why silence can mean peace
instead of punishment.
Why strength sometimes looks like distance.

A glossary reminds us
that words matter.
Meanings matter.

And maybe the most important glossary
is the one we create for ourselves —
defining what we stand for,
what we accept,
and what we no longer translate for others.
