Today’s Word: Gear
In response to Alice DeForest word prompt:
https://wp.me/s9Zf6z-gear

Gear
Gear makes things move.
Teeth interlocking.
Pieces turning together.
One shift changing the speed of everything.
We think of gear as mechanical —
bikes, cars, machines.
But life has gears too.
There are seasons when we move fast,
pushing forward,
driven by urgency.
And there are moments
when we shift down —
slower, steadier,
protecting the engine.
Knowing when to change gear
is wisdom.
Stay in the wrong one too long
and something strains.
Sometimes growth isn’t about acceleration.
It’s about adjusting.
Finding the rhythm
that doesn’t burn you out.
Life isn’t meant to run
in one gear only.
And strength
is not in speed —
but in control.
