In response to Di’s daily Prompt:
https://wp.me/p3RSgb-w8V

The air in a waiting room feels unusually dense.
Heavier than normal oxygen.
Thicker than logic.
Suspiciously aware of your heartbeat.
The word dentist alone
has the power to daunt even the bravest among us.
Suddenly, you remember every sugary decision
you’ve made since 2003.
You sit there pretending to be calm,
nodding politely at a magazine
you haven’t actually read.
But here’s the thing:
The fear is louder than the reality.
Five minutes in the chair.
A polite “open wide.”
And you emerge victorious —
dramatic, yes —
but alive and cavity-free.
Sometimes the thing that daunts us most
is just a dense cloud of imagination
waiting to be cleared.
