Daily Prompt -1851

Budgeting in our house isn’t about luxury.
It’s about stability.

Since my husband’s accident in 2023, life has been less about planning five years ahead and more about making sure this month works. Medical needs, equipment,  groceries — those come first. Always.

I’m not a numbers-and-charts person.
I’m a priority person.

Needs before wants.
Security before spontaneity.

That doesn’t mean there’s no room for joy. Sometimes joy is a chocolate bar. Sometimes it’s a new notebook. Sometimes it’s investing in my music or my blog — because creativity is not an expense, it’s oxygen.

Living in the Canary Islands, where housing prices keep rising and systems don’t always speak to each other, has taught me something important: budgeting isn’t just financial — it’s emotional.

I budget my energy.
I budget my time.
I budget my strength.

I’ve learned that sustainability matters more than appearance.
Quiet stability matters more than showing off.

And if I’ve learned anything in the last few years, it’s this:

Security isn’t about having more.
It’s about knowing how to hold what you have.
