Valentine’s Day 💕
In response to Linda’s prompt:
https://lindaghill.com/

Love is such a small word for something that rearranges entire lives.
It’s not always roses and candlelight and red hearts in shop windows.
Sometimes it’s dialysis schedules and early mornings.
Sometimes it’s daughters laughing in the kitchen, arguing over manga plots and K-pop songs.
Sometimes it’s staying.
Sometimes it’s choosing not to read the comments.
Sometimes it’s breathing through another hard day.
Love is not fragile, even when I am.
It shows up in ordinary things—
in cinnamon rolls warm from the oven,
in the way someone reaches for your hand without thinking,
in silence that doesn’t feel empty.
Love doesn’t ask for perfection.
It asks for presence.
It asks for me to keep turning toward what matters,
even when the world feels loud or unfair.
And maybe that’s the truest Valentine—
not grand gestures,
but the quiet decision, again and again,
to care.
Love is not always soft.
Sometimes it’s fierce.
Sometimes it’s stubborn.
Sometimes it is simply the refusal to give up.
And today,
I don’t need roses.
I just need the steady rhythm
of the people I love
still here,
still breathing,
still choosing each other.
