In response to Reena’s prompt: https://wp.me/p6HvcB-dmS
We have a word prompt for this week.
Susurrus
Susurrus

I hear it in the quiet spaces—
the soft breathing between moments,
the hush that lives just behind the veil.
A susurrus.
It has always been there.
Not loud. Never demanding.
Just a knowing carried on a breath of something older than language.
Some voices come seeking passage.
They do not shout their pain.
They whisper it—
asking only to be seen,
to be believed,
to be guided toward the light they hesitate to trust.
Others arrive with stories unfinished,
threads left loose in the world of the living.
They lean close, not to frighten,
but to place truth gently into listening hands.
And there are guides—
steady, patient presences—
whose words are less sound than sensation.
A warmth. A nudge. A calm certainty
that crossing is not an ending
but a remembering.
The susurrus does not command.
It invites.
To listen is not fear.
It is service.
It is love practiced in silence.
I do not chase the voices.
I open.
And when the whisper fades,
what remains is peace—
and the quiet trust
that light always knows the way.
