Funky

Funky isn’t polished.
It’s not neat or predictable
or ready for display.

Funky is the beat that limps a little
but refuses to stop.
The mood that doesn’t fit the outfit.
The day that smells like chaos
and still makes you laugh.

Some seasons of life go funky—
out of tune,
off schedule,
doing their own strange dance.

I used to fight it.
Try to straighten it out.
Make it behave.

Now I let the funk be funky.

Because sometimes the groove returns
only after you stop forcing the rhythm.
Sometimes the soul needs a crooked step
to remember it’s alive.

So here’s to the funky days—
the awkward, colourful, slightly unhinged ones.

They’re not broken.
They’re just remixing.
