In response to Sadje’s prompt:

I couldn’t choose,
so the universe chose for me.
A galaxy first—
patchwork light,
no single center insisting on importance.
Stars forming wherever they can,
blue hope stitched to red becoming.
Even chaos knows how to create.
Then a pagoda—
layered, deliberate,
resting where mountain breath meets water’s fall.
Each level a pause.
Each stair an agreement with gravity.
Red roofs answering green silence.
One image teaches distance:
millions of years, scattered brilliance,
creation without a map.
The other teaches presence:
step here, bow here,
let the waterfall finish your thoughts.
What do I see?
The same pattern, twice.
Once written in light,
once written in stone.
The galaxy is a temple
that forgot it was sacred.
The temple is a galaxy
that remembers.
And somewhere between them
is us—
learning how to spiral
without losing our way.
