Happy Birthday 🎂 Harry Styles.

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday prompt invites us to choose a song written or performed by someone born in the month of February. My choice is Harry Styles, born on February 1st, 1994 — making this selection feel especially fitting.
The song I’ve chosen is “Falling.”
Released in 2019 as part of Harry’s album Fine Line, Falling became one of those songs that quietly took on a deeper meaning during the COVID-19 pandemic. I remember listening to it during that time — when the world slowed, silence grew louder, and music became company. It wasn’t a song that demanded attention. It simply was, sitting beside you in the quiet.
Harry Styles first entered our lives as the youngest member — the “baby” — of One Direction, a band that grew up in front of the world. We watched them transform from boys into men under an intensity few could imagine. Their journey was public, fast, and formative — not just for them, but for those of us who followed along.
Harry has since grown into an artist unafraid of vulnerability, both musically and creatively. Beyond music, he has also stepped into acting — a reminder that his artistry continues to expand and evolve. I haven’t watched his films yet, but I appreciate seeing him explore new forms of expression, trusting his instincts beyond the recording studio.
And while Liam was — and always will be — my favourite, I continue to follow the music of all the boys from One Direction. Their paths may have diverged, but the connection remains. Supporting the others doesn’t lessen that love; it honours the shared history. When one mattered, they all mattered.
Lyrics:
I’m in my bed
And you’re not here
And there’s no one to blame but the drink in my wandering hands
Forget what I said
It’s not what I meant
And I can’t take it back, I can’t unpack the baggage you left
What am I now? What am I now?
What if I’m someone I don’t want around?
I’m falling again, I’m falling again, I’m falling
What if I’m down? What if I’m out?
What if I’m someone you won’t talk about?
I’m falling again, I’m falling again, I’m falling
You said you care
And you missed me too
And I’m well aware I write too many songs about you
And the coffee’s out
At the Beachwood Cafe
And it kills me ’cause I know we’ve run out of things we can say
What am I now? What am I now?
What if I’m someone I don’t want around?
I’m falling again, I’m falling again, I’m falling
What if I’m down? What if I’m out?
What if I’m someone you won’t talk about?
I’m falling again, I’m falling again, I’m falling
And I get the feeling that you’ll never need me again
What am I now? What am I now?
What if you’re someone I just want around
I’m falling again, I’m falling again, I’m falling
What if I’m down? What if I’m out?
What if I’m someone you won’t talk about?
I’m falling again, I’m falling again, I’m falling

Falling is a quiet reckoning — a song about self-awareness, regret, and emotional honesty. There’s no blame here, no drama — just the moment when you realise what’s been lost and must sit with it. It’s stripped back, piano-led, and deeply human.
Some songs become time markers.
Falling is one of those for me — a song tied to stillness, reflection, and learning how to live with uncertainty.
