What We Carry
I used to think it was petty
to feel things so deeply,
but a life can be rich
without gold,
just by honoring its own custom of truth.
I’m sorry for the times
pride spoke louder than grace,
for every quiet worry
I tried to outrun instead of face.
Still, I try—
because what we carry matters,
and support doesn’t always arrive
with answers,
sometimes only presence.
I’ve learned to be honest
even when my voice shakes,
to suggest hope gently,
not as a command,
but as an offering.
So I lift my head,
not because I know the way,
but because I’m still walking—
and that,
for now,
is enough.
