Incapable

They say incapable
as if it were a verdict.
As if a body, a mind, a life
could be summed up
by what it cannot do.

But incapable is often
a misunderstanding.
A failure of imagination.
A word used when systems refuse to bend
and the world won’t adapt.

Incapable of what—
fitting into narrow spaces?
Moving at someone else’s pace?
Performing strength
the way it is expected to look?

I have learned this:
people are rarely incapable.
They are unsupported.
Unaccommodated.
Unseen.

What looks like inability
is often endurance
under unfair conditions.

So no—
incapable is not the truth.
It is a label placed
where compassion should have been.
