Some traditions stay exactly the same.
Others shift, soften, or find new shapes as life moves us along.

We’ve learned that traditions don’t disappear when circumstances change — they travel with us.

One of the most important traditions we carried with us is our Scandinavian Christmas.
Even after moving to the Canary Islands, the food, the timing, and the feeling remain. The warmth of familiar dishes, the way we gather, the sense of this is home — even when home now looks different from where we began.

Another tradition that still holds strong is Sunday family movie day.
It doesn’t matter what we watch — old classics, animated films, or anime — what matters is that we sit together. No rushing. No expectations. Just shared space, shared laughter, shared silence.

Years ago, movie nights belonged to Saturdays.
But as the youngest grew up and began living fuller, more independent lives, Saturdays became theirs. Friends, plans, freedom. So we adapted. Sunday became our soft landing instead.

That’s the thing about traditions —
they aren’t rigid rules.
They’re living agreements of love.

They bend.
They adjust.
They stay.

And in a world that changes so quickly, these small rituals remind us who we are, where we come from, and how deeply connected we remain — no matter the season, the country, or the chapter of life we’re in.
