I went looking for something simple,
and somehow ended up with words
that sound like they escaped from a medical textbook.

I know Xerox —
that’s the machine that copies things
until the copy of the copy
looks slightly offended.

But xyster?
Apparently a surgical tool,
which I did not expect
to appear in my vocabulary today.

And xerotic?
Dry.
Very dry.
The kind of word that needs lip balm.

So now I imagine a very dry person,
standing next to a Xerox machine,
holding a xyster,
wondering how life got this complicated.

Moral of the story:
Some days are poetic.
Some days are cozy.
And some days just throw you
three X-words
and walk away 😄📄🩺
