DailyPrompt–1825

If you could make your pet understand one thing

#1825

Honestly?
I don’t think animals are the ones who need more understanding.

Animals already know far more than we give them credit for.

They understand tone.
Energy.
Intentions.
Presence.

So instead of asking what I would want my pet to understand, I’d flip the question:

What should we humans be made to understand about animals?

That they feel deeply.
That they communicate constantly — just not always in words.
That they remember kindness and fear.
That they know when we’re sad, anxious, or unwell.

Animals don’t need us to explain ourselves better.
They need us to listen better.

To slow down.
To observe.
To respect their boundaries and their wisdom.

Animals don’t ask much of us.
Just safety.
Consistency.
Love.

And when we meet them there,
they give us something incredibly rare in return:

Presence without judgment.
Connection without conditions.

Maybe the lesson isn’t for them to understand us —
but for us to finally understand them.
