Favorite Saying

Not my circus, not my monkeys.
I repeat that one often—sometimes out loud, sometimes like a quiet spell—
especially when chaos comes knocking
and expects me to manage it.

Because I used to believe
everything was my responsibility.
Everyone’s feelings.
Everyone’s mess.

It took time to learn
that stepping back
isn’t failure,
it’s wisdom.

And then there’s the other one—
if life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

That one feels softer.
More hopeful.
More like survival dressed as optimism.

Some days the lemons are small annoyances.
Other days they’re sharp, bitter,
and far too many to carry.

But still—
I try to make something drinkable out of it all.
A moment of sweetness.
A lesson.
A pause.

Between monkeys and lemons,
I’ve found balance.

Let go of what isn’t mine.
Work gently with what is.
That, for now,
is enough.
