Lottery

All my troubles would go away if I won the lottery—
or so the story goes.

That belief lives quietly in many of us,
the idea that one sudden number,
one perfect alignment,
could lift the weight from our shoulders
and rewrite the days that ache.

But troubles are clever things.
They don’t always leave with money.
Some soften with security, yes—
yet others ask for courage, healing,
time, and truth.

Still, I understand the dream.
The lottery isn’t just about riches.
It’s about relief.
About breathing without counting.
About rest without guilt.
About choosing joy instead of survival.

Maybe the real lottery
is waking up to another day
where hope still buys a ticket—
and somehow,
we’re still in the draw.
