Daily prompt-2104
Describe a family member.

This one isn’t easy for me. It’s a touchy topic, and I’m still not entirely sure where my feelings land.
Growing up, I carried what I call “the good girl syndrome.” Be quiet. Don’t argue. Sit there, smile, look pretty, and do your chores. I learned to measure my worth in obedience — in how small I could make myself to keep the peace.
It took me until my forties to begin breaking out of that circle. Even now, I still sometimes slip back into the old patterns — the guilt, the silence, the instinct to please. I’ve burned most of my bridges with my family, and while that brought pain, it also brought peace.
💫 Sometimes healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken — it’s about freeing yourself from what kept breaking you.
