What’s something you believe everyone should know?

Since I’ve worked with children with special needs — and even before I officially began — one thing I believe everyone should know is sign language.Sign language is more universal than many people realize. Of course, every country has its own variations, but the essence — the movement, expression, and emotion — is something that transcends words. It’s communication in its purest form: heart, hands, and eyes working together. One of the children I worked with lost her hearing to meningitis before she was two. It turned her family’s world upside down — not just for her, but for her parents, siblings, grandparents, everyone.Yet what struck me most was how she adapted. Children are remarkable that way — they don’t dwell on what’s lost; they find new ways to connect. When communicating with someone who’s deaf, don’t just use your hands — use your face, your body language, your eyes, and your heart. Speak too, because many read lips and rely on expression to fill in what sound cannot.💫 The beauty of communication is not in how loudly we speak, but in how deeply we’re understood.
