For dVerse Poets Pub – Where Lillian is our host.
Lillian here. Happy to host Open Link Night.
Let’s have fun with color today!
Post one poem, that mentions in some way, at least three different colors! We often think about “painting a picture with our words”….well today, actually mention at least three different colors within your poem.

The Colours My Soul Remembers
For dVerse Open Link Night — 22 October 2026
I have lived through shades of grey,
through winters that forgot the sun,
through days when even morning light
seemed frightened to begin.
But somewhere in the silence,
purple whispered of a dream,
a colour born between the stars
and everything unseen.
Gold arrived with memories,
like sunlight through an open door,
reminding me that love remains
when footsteps sound no more.
Blue became the endless ocean,
the sky above my island home,
a place where restless thoughts could drift
and weary hearts could roam.
Red was never only anger,
nor the wounds that time concealed;
it was courage, fierce and burning,
the strength to rise and heal.
Silver gathered on the mountains
when the moon began to climb,
and painted little pathways
through the darker hours of time.
I learned that life is not one colour,
not a canvas painted bright,
but a thousand shades of living
woven into dark and light.
And when the world grows heavy,
when old shadows reappear,
I gather all my colours
and hold them close, right here.
For purple still remembers magic,
gold remembers those I’ve loved,
blue reminds me I am breathing
beneath the stars above.
Red reminds me to keep fighting,
silver tells me dreams survive—
And every colour that I’ve carried
is proof that I’m alive.
