💫Daily Prompt  Word Press

Which celebrity would you love to meet, and what would you talk about?

There is one person I would have loved to meet.

Liam Payne. 💜

And somehow, this question feels particularly emotional today.

Because tomorrow, 16 October, marks two years since he passed away.

Two years.

Sometimes it’s difficult to believe how quickly time moves, even when a loss still feels so close.

If I had been given the opportunity to sit down with Liam, I wouldn’t have wanted flashing cameras, a red carpet or anything extravagant.

Just a quiet place.

Perhaps a cup of coffee.

And a conversation.

I would have loved to talk with him about music.

About the magic of taking a feeling, a memory or an experience and turning it into a song.

About how sometimes the words come easily, almost as though they’ve been waiting for us.

And other times, we can sit for hours trying to find that one sentence that expresses exactly what our hearts are feeling.

I would have loved to talk about writing lyrics.

How a few simple words, combined with the right melody, can touch someone thousands of miles away.

How music can make us laugh, cry, remember and sometimes even find the strength to keep going.

Because music has always been such an important part of my life.

And I believe Liam understood that power too.

🎶

I admired his talent, not only as a singer, but also as a songwriter and an artist.

His drawings and paintings showed another side of his creativity.

There was so much more to him than the young man people saw on stage.

From what I saw of him, he seemed to have a heart full of love, humour and creativity.

Of course, I never knew him personally.

But sometimes someone’s work, words and kindness leave an impression that reaches far beyond a screen.

And Liam certainly left an impression on me.

I would have loved to ask him where his inspiration came from.

Whether he had notebooks filled with unfinished lyrics.

Whether he ever woke up in the middle of the night with a melody in his head.

And whether he sometimes found it easier to express his feelings through music than through ordinary conversation.

I suspect we would have had plenty to talk about.

And perhaps I would have told him something very personal.

That his life, his music and the grief I felt after his passing helped me rediscover my own creative voice.

I began writing again.

Poetry.

Stories.

Song lyrics.

And eventually, I started creating and releasing my own music under the name The Afterlove Voice.

Something I might never have imagined doing a few years earlier.

I wish I could have thanked him for that.

Not because he knew me.

He didn’t.

But because sometimes people inspire us without ever knowing the difference they’ve made.

And that inspiration can continue long after they’re gone.

Tomorrow will be a difficult anniversary for many who loved him.

His family, his friends and everyone whose lives he touched.

And while I know that no words can change what happened, I hope the love and creativity he shared with the world will continue to be remembered.

If I could meet Liam, I wouldn’t ask him about fame.

I wouldn’t ask about gossip or headlines.

I would simply want to meet the person behind the music.

To listen.

To talk about creativity.

Perhaps share a few lyrics.

And maybe, if I were brave enough, play him one of my own songs.

Then I would say:

Thank you, Liam.

Thank you for the music.

For the inspiration.

And for reminding me, without ever knowing it, that my own voice still had something to say.

Some people we never meet still leave footprints upon our hearts. And sometimes, the most beautiful way to honour their memory is to keep creating, keep loving and let the music carry on.

Forever 31. 💜🕊️
