Three Things Challenge #MM577
Today’s three words:
ANCHOR • ARCHIVE • ARGUE

The Anchor That Remembered ⚓
For fifty years, an old anchor stood outside the little harbour museum.
Nobody knew where it came from.
Some claimed it belonged to a pirate ship. Others insisted it had been recovered from a fishing boat.
The villagers loved to argue about its history.
One rainy afternoon, Emma discovered a dusty photograph in the museum’s archive.
It showed the same anchor, standing outside a cottage in 1943.
Beside it stood a young woman holding a baby.
On the back, someone had written:
For Thomas, who never returned from the sea. May this anchor keep us grounded until we meet again.
Emma stared at the photograph.
The young woman was her grandmother.
And the baby?
Her father.
Suddenly, the old anchor wasn’t just a piece of maritime history.
It was a love story.
The next morning, Emma placed a small plaque beside it.
“In memory of those who sailed away, and those who kept the light burning.”
The villagers stopped arguing about pirates.
Instead, they began sharing stories of their own families.
And Emma realised something.
An anchor doesn’t always hold a ship in place.
Sometimes, it holds a memory close to shore.
