Familiar — When a Song Feels Like Home 💜🎶
Familiar.
One word.
And immediately, a song starts playing in my head.
Familiar, by Liam Payne and J Balvin.
Oh, how I love that song! ❤️
It’s one of my favourites, and now I probably won’t get it out of my head for the rest of the day. 😂
But isn’t it strange how our minds work?
Someone says a word, and suddenly we’re transported somewhere else.
A melody.
A memory.
A feeling.
Music has always been like that for me.
Some songs make me want to dance around the living room, even when my body has other opinions about that idea.
Others make me close my eyes and simply listen.
And then there are those songs that become part of us.
So familiar that we recognise them from the very first note.
Liam’s voice has that effect on me.
There is something about hearing a familiar voice that can make the world feel a little less lonely.
Even when the person behind that voice is no longer here.
And perhaps that’s the bittersweet part of familiarity.
Sometimes it brings comfort.
Sometimes it brings tears.
Sometimes both arrive together.
I can listen to a song I’ve heard hundreds of times and suddenly notice something I never heard before.
A little change in his voice.
A breath between the words.
A feeling I hadn’t noticed.
And for those few minutes, time doesn’t seem to matter.
The music is still here.
The voice is still here.
The memories are still here.
Maybe that’s why certain songs become so precious.
They remind us of people, places and moments that have left their footprints on our hearts.
And sometimes, when the world feels a little too noisy, all we need is something familiar.
A favourite song.
A warm cup of coffee.
A quiet evening.
A voice we know by heart.
So thank you, Linda, for today’s prompt.
You managed to put Liam on my playlist before I’d even finished reading the word. ❤️
And now?
I think I’ll turn up the volume.
Because some songs never grow old.
And some voices never stop feeling like home.
Forever familiar. Forever loved. 💜🎶
